In the Barber / Hairdresser training / Makeup artist / Stylist course you will intensively study the skills of hairdressing in theory and practise. The makeup artist course is creative and precise handicraft work. Various apprenticeship events are part of the course and are challenging. Many event organizers want hairdressing and makeup artist skills.
A stylist knows how to advise clients as to dressing according to the etiquette of the event (palace events, graduation / promotion events, work-place interviews etc.) A stylist also knows how to build an individual wardrobe. This course is for those interested in a holistic management of appearance. We expect the applicant to have artistic and social skills and also a good ability to visualize. The graduate of this program knows how to create fashion shows for department stores and for Cat Walk events.
Our course teaches the basic skills for hairdressing professional examination, as well as quality hair extension methods, braiding and dreadlocks. The basic examination is updated every 4-5 years to keep up with work-place developments. Eye-lash lengthening is also included in the program. A visit to the facilities of YLE TV introduces students to makeup in a real setting giving a new perspective to students.

Colour studies, colour analysis and fashion
Colours and style, future trends in fashion, clothing classics, effects of colour on clothing ensembles, dressing
Etiquette and clothing
Situational and etiquette clothing, how to dress according to strict etiquette, dressing for family occasions, for academic occasions.
In addition to the above studies, students will have 5 credit days of instruction arranged by the Fashion Marketing Association. The instruction will take place in Helsinki. This instructional program is done in a multi-phase manner with lectures and exam days as well as by doing projects at home which will be evaluated. At the end of the course there is a final examination which, having been passed, grants the student a diploma which will be awarded at the end of the entire program.
